The Médoc region lies just northwest of Bordeaux and borders the Atlantic coast on one side and the Gironde Estuary on the other. It's an area renowned for its vineyards, which produce some of the world's most highly-regarded wines, including Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Malbec.

As you ride along the region’s quiet, flat country roads, you’ll often spot a turret peeking over the rows of vines, or a stately, tree-lined path, and following these tantalizing glimpses will lead you to the winemaking châteaux that punctuate the countryside. Médoc also boasts over a hundred kilometers of sandy beaches, with white waves perfect for surfers and water sports enthusiasts. Further inland, the Gironde Estuary gives way to a national park and breathtaking views across its tranquil waters. Fort Médoc, which sits on its banks, is a UNESCO protected military defense, built in 1691. Either side of it lie the villages of Margaux and Pauillac, perfect pockets of French life from a slower time.
