Take a ride along the Clyde
Glide around glorious Glasgow on a guided bike tour of the city and Clyde Bridges – your comprehensive sightseeing experience on two wheels!
Pushing off towards the People’s Palace and Winter Gardens, soak up the stunning architecture of the red brick palace and magisterial glasshouse. Your bicycle tour continues on to the postcard-perfect bridges of the River Clyde, emblematic of Glasgow and staggering in their scale and variety. You’ll cycle on to the Clyde Auditorium, known as the Armadillo, with excellent photo opportunities next to this unusual architectural landmark.
Cycle on to the Finnieston Crane standing proudly in the Glasgow skyline as a symbol of the city’s engineering heritage. Wind your way to the West End, with its vintage vibe, chic boutiques and eateries, and unique lanes. Take in the unmissable view of the Kelvingrove Art Gallery, Scotland’s most visited free tourist site, where baroque architecture commands the eye. You’ll be impressed by Glasgow University, Scotland’s second oldest university, viewed through the emerald foliage which lines the Kelvin River.
Your city day tour continues to the Forth and Clyde Canal with Speirs Wharf, where beautiful red brick buildings cast their reflections in the Clyde’s calm waters. Learn of the history of the canal and wharf, engineered to connect Scotland’s east and west coast seas. Then, cast your eyes over the last remaining examples of medieval buildings in the city – Glasgow Cathedral and the Provand’s Lordship. Both command impressive views in the center of Glasgow and stand testament to the historical heritage of Scotland’s largest city.
Your unique bike tour nears its end at the Glasgow Necropolis, nicknamed the ‘city of the dead’ as an example of a classic Victorian cemetery. The site, harboring 50,000 graves, is an unusual feature in Glasgow’s varied cityscape, dwelling on a low hill and sure to send a shiver down the spine.
