Discover the historical icons of Bucharest
Bike to the iconic sights of bedazzling Bucharest on this guided half day tour, with the added benefit of bike rental!
Exploring Old Town, learn from your friendly guide all about the dawn of Romanian civilization, and the events and buildings that make Bucharest the splendid city it is today.
You’ll cycle to the caravanserai, a site steeped in history from the era of the Old Silk Road. Imagine the inn back then, alive with chatter in foreign tongues, with goods and trades passing before your eyes.
Romania has the largest gypsy community in the world. As you near the Gypsy Neighborhood, your guide will give an introduction to the traditions and customs that are still burgeoning in Bucharest today.
Cycle on to the Socialist Victory Boulevard. Toted as Romania’s answer to the Avenue des Champs-Élysées, glide along this glorious stretch of the capital to the gates of the Palace of the Parliament. En route, the Unirii Fountains provide a dynamic dancing water display!
Park your bike up at the colossal Palace of the Parliament, the heaviest building in the world (a hefty 4.10 million tonnes), and the world’s second-largest administrative building. This is the seat of Romania’s Parliament and an icon of the city, with a social realist and neoclassical façade.
Cycling on to City Hall, admire Antim’s Monastery before the beautiful hall glides into view. Just across the road are the Cismigiu Gardens, an English-style garden boasting blossoming flowerbeds and a blissful boating lake. Enjoy the rejuvenating ride through this urban oasis as you venture on to Victory Avenue, Bucharest’s urban thoroughfare, where the Neoclassical clashes with buildings from the Communist era.
Ride to the Royal Palace and behold the breathtaking baroque exterior as your bicycle tour reaches its finale at Revolution Square, scene of Ceaușescu’s last speech.
