Daily program
Day 1: Transfer from Lisbon to Monsaraz
Upon arrival, you will be transferred to Monsaraz, a captivating destination full of historical charm, rich cultural heritage, and gastronomic delights. Perched atop a hill, the town offers incredible views of the surrounding countryside and Alqueva Lake.Day 2: Monsaraz and surroundings (25 miles/40 km)
You'll set off to Corval, a captivating village with a history dating back to the 17th century. However, its human presence can be traced back even further, spanning over 4,000 years. The renowned Rocha dos Namorados, also known as the Valentine's Rock, is a testament to this ancient heritage.Continuing the route, you'll pass Santo António do Baldio, a perfect spot to recharge. Next up is the awe-inspiring Cromeleque do Xerez, a remarkable megalithic monument comprising 50 granite menhirs. These structures stand tall, ranging from 1.20m to 1.50m, and are estimated to date back to the early 4th and mid-3rd millennium BC.

Day 3: Monsaraz - Vila Viçosa (36 miles/57 km)
You'll depart Monsaraz following the familiar road from yesterday before branching off onto a new path. Today's route offers a refreshing change as the first half of your journey presents minimal elevation gain. However, once you reach approximately kilometer 32, prepare for a gradual ascent toward your destination, backdropped by the incredible Alentejo landscape of vast olive groves and cork tree plantations.Elevation: +700m
Day 4: Vila Viçosa (32 miles/51 km)
Today is about wine and cheese!
The route leads to a charming Portuguese village in the Viçoso Valley at Serra de Borba. This village has a rich history, once inhabited by Romans and Moors long before the country's formation.While your final destination lies beyond the town, don't miss the opportunity to explore the town center and visit notable monuments such as the Vila Viçosa Castle.
As you venture forth, after approximately 12 kilometers, you'll reach the Quinta do Zambujeiro, an ideal spot to indulge in wine tasting complemented by the traditional local cheese. If you feel it's too early to stop, fear not! Around kilometer 36, you'll have another chance to delight your taste buds at Quinta da Pinheira.

Day 5: Vila Viçosa - Évora (38 miles/61 km)
Today you'll journey to historic and timeless Évora, Portugal's most emblematic Roman city and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. As you arrive, you'll immediately be enchanted by the city's tranquil and welcoming atmosphere, understanding why the kings of Portugal chose it as a residence in the 15th century.Once in Évora, be sure to visit the vibrant Giraldo Square, the city's pulsating heart. This bustling square is a hub of activity and a perfect spot for soaking up the local culture. Don't miss the opportunity to explore the Roman Temple, spring waters, and the captivating medieval wall.

Day 6: Évora (30 miles/48 km)
Your travels will take you to Arraiolos, a charming village located in northern Évora. As you have on other days, once again, there will be an opportunity to indulge in the exquisite Alentejo wine at Fitapreta Vinhos. You can visit this winery on your way to Arraiolos or on your return journey.Elevation: +300m
Day 7: Departure
Transfer back to Lisbon Airport (or the hotel of your choosing). Travel time is 1 1/2 hours.Surface and terrain
You will bike 25 to 38 miles/40 to 61 km per day on a moderately hilly route (daily elevation is from 300 to 700 meters). Road surfaces are a mix of paved and gravel roads.
