    • Sand, sea, and the peaceful sanctuaries of Sintra-Cascais

Cycle through Sintra’s most sensational scenery on the Sintra MTB Tour! In just a day, your guided tour takes in some of the highlights of Sintra-Cascais Natural Park, riding to the Convent of the Capuchos, the Sanctuary of Peninha, and Guincho Beach. There is simply no better way to experience the best of Sintra!

Your diverse day tour starts with a cycle to Sintra-Cascais Natural Park at the westernmost point of Europe along the Portuguese Riviera. Sintra-Cascais is an unforgettable landscape of cliffs, beaches, mountains and forests, dominated by the spectacular Serra de Sintra, covered in an enchanting layer of emerald green vegetation. A UNESCO World Heritage Site, it’s no wonder that this magical mountainous region was a favored summer residence for kings, noblemen, and the Portuguese Bourgeoisie.

The first destination on your ride through remarkable Sintra-Cascais is the Convent of the Capuchos, once occupied by a pious community of reclusive clergy, now an enchanting courtyard of ivy-clad buildings speaking of secluded history since its founding in 1560. This harmony between the ancient buildings and Mother Nature was a feature even centuries ago - this convent was designed to co-exist with the natural world, with the boulders and rocky slopes of the Sintra Mountains incorporated into the structure of the religious dwellings. Your mountain bike tour continues to the Sanctuary of Peninha, an incredible palace and baroque chapel, once a hermitage, atop a rocky outcrop with spectacular sea views.

Get your swimsuits on at Guincho Beach for an unforgettable dip in the tantalizing turquoise ocean, or park up your mountain bike for a beautiful break on the golden sands. Sitting in a natural depression on the south side of the Sintra Hills, Guincho boasts a gorgeous 750 meter shoreline, perfect for some rest and recuperation on your Portuguese adventure.
