A Beatlemaniac’s bike tour of legendary Liverpool

This unique e-bike adventure is a ‘Magical Mystery Tour’ of the sites and landmarks that inspired four Liverpudlian lads’ musical ‘Revolution’. Fab Four fans young and old will love their ‘Ticket to Ride’ to the most iconic locations in Beatle history, as well as the legendary sightseeing attractions of Liverpool’s celebrated city center.

On your choice of electric bike or manual bicycle, set off towards Mathew Street and discover the iconic Cavern Club, where four lads rocking all-leather outfits were discovered by an unlikely manager, Brian Epstein, who would get them suited, Beatle-booted, and set to capture the imagination of a global audience. Cycle by the statue of the unassuming hero himself, newly unveiled in 2022 to honor Epstein’s contribution to British musical history.

The first thing visitors to Liverpool see when they step out of Lime Street Station is the exquisite facade of St. George’s Hall, a neoclassical building dating back to 1854 and fronted by impressive statues of two of the four English lions. Cycle down Lime Street and look up at the landmark Edwardian hotel known as the Adelphi, famous for hosting some of the world’s most famous figures, including Winston Churchill, Frank Sinatra, and Franklin and Eleanor Roosevelt.

You’ll be astonished by the unusual exterior of Liverpool’s Metropolitan Cathedral - its ‘teepee’ shape and mesmerizing stained-glass windows make it an intriguing star of the Liverpool skyline, just meters away from the colossal majesty of the Liverpool Anglican Cathedral designed by Giles Gilbert Scott. The latter cathedral is one of the tallest non-spired church buildings in the world, and sure to inspire your sense of wonder with its impressive scale.

Ready to discover the first childhood home of the Fab Four? Ride into Ringoland, in the Dingle area of Liverpool, and take a picture beside the brightly colored mural of the man himself - Richard Starkey, also known as Ringo Starr.

Cycle onwards to the expansive Sefton Park via Princes Park to discover some lesser-known Beatle heritage in the form of the Palm House, a glorious Victorian glass house full to the ceiling with exotic flora. Were it not for the generous and anonymous (at the time) donation by one George Harrison, the palm house would have fallen into irrecoverable disrepair.

Pedal on to the iconic Penny Lane and take in the famous street sign autographed by Sir Paul McCartney himself. Afterwards, enjoy a visit to the Penny Lane Development Trust. As your brilliant bike tour continues, pass by the John Lennon Imagine Peace statue on your way to Quarry Bank High School, where the rebellious John Lennon was educated, to varying degrees of success, as a teenager. You’ll discover where Lennon grew up, biking to 251 Menlove Avenue, where you can see the humble porch where the inimitable Lennon/McCartney songwriting legacy began.

Be transported back to that fateful day in July 1957 when young rocker John stormed the ramshackle stage at St. Peter’s Church, Woolton, with The Quarrymen, unknowingly admired by the young Paul McCartney, who would approach Lennon after the performance.

Pedal onwards and pose for a photo at the iconic red gates of Strawberry Field, the entrance into the imagination of the mischievous young John Lennon, drawn to the orphanage by his yearning, even at a young age, to find his place in the world. You’ll enjoy free entry to the museum, which includes the piano used by John to compose ‘Imagine’, complete with cigarette marks. Then, cycle in young Lennon’s wheeltracks to 20 Forthlin Road, Paul McCartney’s childhood home.

En route back to Mathew Street, enjoy a relaxing ride along the evocative waterfront of the River Mersey, whose ports made The Beatles possible - without ships bringing records over from America, who knows what the face of modern music would have looked like? Take in the legendary sightseeing spots along the Pier Head, including the renowned Royal Albert Dock and the emblematic Beatles statues.
