    • Explore ancient Split from above

Unearth the ancient wonders of Split on a biking adventure like no other, with an additional exploration of the magnificent Marijan Hill and surrounding beaches! The Ancient Split + Marjan Hill Bike Tour is a cycling extravaganza leading you on a guided discovery of Diocletian’s Palace, ‘Riva’, Sustipan, and Varosh, and Marijan Hill, with captivating Croatian views every pedal of the adventure. Take a day tour with a difference!

Your first destination on this dynamic day tour is Diocletian’s Palace, built around the turn of the fourth century AD. This awe-inspiring ancient palace was built for the Roman Emperor Diocletian, although its appearance is more that of a flamboyant fortress, its lustrous marble and limestone shimmering in the plentiful sunlight. The marble used for the palace was actually quarried from the nearby island of Braĉ, but the extravagant decorations were mostly imported, including Egyptian granite columns, and a number of 3500-year-old sphinxes from the site of the Egyptian Pharaoh Thutmose III! A UNESCO World Heritage Site, Diocletian’s Palace is an unmissable landmark, both in the sense that a trip to Croatia is incomplete without it, but also in the fact that it forms nearly half of Split!

Ride on to ‘Riva’, Split’s spectacular waterfront, boasting a large boardwalk (perfect for cycling), high quality eateries, and sublime seaside views. Cycle in the shadows of the swaying palm trees and gain a holistic understanding of the harbor from your knowledgeable guide. You’ll soon be entering Sustipan, a serene area on the peninsula profering one of the most beautiful views of Split Bay. Named after a monastery built beneath the pines for St. Stjepan, this picturesque parkland area is well-worth visiting for its peaceful atmosphere and unrivaled vistas. Your bicycle tour rides on into Varosh, an old fishermen’s village sidling right up against the Diocletian Palace, creating a magnificent contrast of Mediterranean architecture.

Your guided bike tour moves on to an exploration of Marjan Hill, a verdant viewpoint over Split almost completely covered in fragrant Mediterranean pine forest. As you bike between the enchanting trees, you’ll be rewarded with unforgettable views, and a visit to some of Split’s most stunning beaches too!
