Sarajevo, known as the “Jerusalem of Europe”, is an underrated gem within Europe’s hoard of beautiful cities. This guided bike tour is a historical exploration of its many astounding avenues and striking streets, taking in Vratnik, Old Town, the War Tunnel and Museum, Olympic Village, and River Bosna spring.
Beginning beside the cobbled arches of the Latin Bridge, your beautiful bicycle tour starts by heading towards the Yellow Bastion marking the entrance to the Walled City of Vratnik. The panoramic views from here are incomparable, so keep your camera handy! Your well-informed guide will be there to help you understand the history of this sensational city, including the difficult war years of 1992-5. Having soaked up Sarajevo's stunning skyline, you'll ride into Old Town, an intriguing labyrinth of narrow streets alive with an eclectic culture.
Your day tour takes you on to the War Tunnel and Museum for a deeper delve into Sarajevo's unique history, but not without stopping at the atmospheric Olympic Village first. Sarajevo's hosting of the 1984 Olympic Winter Games was a proud and distinct moment in its history, leaving a lasting legacy that inspires many a young sportsperson from the city. You'll round off your bicycle tour with a replenishing ride through Sarajevo's nature reserves. Listen in to the delicate song of the spring at the River Bosna, and take a moment to enjoy a local coffee in this charming landscape, before your bike tour returns you to Old Town.
